13561I 2 RESOLUTION NO. 13,561 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT 5 TO CONTINUE A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM IN THE 6 LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT, BEGINNING JULY 1, 2012, AND 7 ENDING JUNE 30,2013; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department seeks approval to enter into a contract with the Little 10 Rock School District to continue a School Resource Officer Program in the Little Rock School District, 11 beginning July 1, 2012, and ending June 30, 2013; and, 12 WHEREAS, the City and the School District desire to reduce juvenile crime and to promote 13 responsible behavior on the part of students; and, 14 WHEREAS, this objective will continue to be accomplished by the controlled interaction of the 15 City's police officers with students and staff of the District through the School Officer Resource Program; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, the contract provides for two (2) Police Supervisors and sixteen (16) Police Officers 18 with assignments in each Little Rock School District High School, three (3) of the Junior High Schools, 19 Hamilton Learning Academy and Felders Learning Academy; and, 20 WHEREAS, the Little Rock School District will reimburse the City for 50% of the salaries, benefits, 21 overtime and compensatory time for the each School Resource Officer (SRO) while school is in session; 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 23 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 24 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with 25 the Little Rock School District to continue a School Resource Officer Program in the Little Rock School 26 District, beginning July 1, 2012, and ending June 30, 2013. 27 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 28 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 29 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 30 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 31 resolution. 32 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with 33 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
