AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 13,266
SETTING A MORATORIUM ON DEMOLITION PERMITS
WITHIN THE WORKING BOUNDARY OF THE LITTLE
ROCK HISTORIC DISTRICT; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Historic District Commission has requested
an extension of the moratorium on demolition permits within the working
boundaries of the proposed Little Rock Historic District as provided by
Ordinance #13,266 of the Board of Directors passed April 5, 1977 so as
to provide that no demolition permit should be issued to any owner, autho-
rized agent or contractor who desires to demolish any architecturally
significant structure designated Priority 1 and Priority 2 on a survey
made by the Little Rock Historic District Commission dated May 1977; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Directors to extend that
said moratorium for architecturally significant structures in Priority 1
and Priority 2 herein referred to for an additional sixty days from the
time set out in said Ordinance #13,266.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Ordinance #13,266 is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Ordinance #12,649 adopting the Southern Standard Building Code
of the City of Little Rock, specifically Section 105.1(a), is hereby
amended to provide that no demolition permit should be issued to any
owner, authorized agent or contractor who desires to demolish any
architecturally significant structure within the working boundaries of
the Little Rock Historic District designated Priority 1 and Priority 2
in a survey conducted by the Little Rock Historic District Commission in
May of 1977, without approval by the Board of Directors. Priority 1
contains 74 structures and Priority 2 contains 163 structures.
SECTION 2. Section 4 of Ordinance No. 13,266 of the Board of
Directors is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 4. The moratorium declared herein shall
terminate upon the final establishment
of the Historic District or on September 1,
1977, whichever shall first occur."

However, nothing in this ordinance shall prohibit the demolition of
any structure required by the construction of the Wilbur Mills Freeway
(1-630).
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
