13831S t' ORDINANCE NO. 13,831 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $13,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF THE GENERAL FUND FOR EXPENSES IN CONNECTION WITH THE ANNEXATION OF SEVEN ISLANDS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, Little Rock presently contains four unincorporated islands which encompass 1,493 acres and an estimated population of 8,300, and WHEREAS, three additional islands will be created by the acceptance of the Frazier Pike annexation which will be on the agenda for the June 17, 1980 Board meeting, and WHEREAS, the Staff estimates that the process of annexing the territory will take approximately six months, and WHEREAS, enabling legislation requires that the City determine ownership of all parcels of property involved and notify each property owner in the area by certified mail, and WHEREAS, cost of obtaining abstracts and sending certified letters is estimated at $13,000, and WHEREAS, it is important that the City have these islands annexed in sufficient time that a special census may be initiated in order to receive the turnback funds to which the City is entitled. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Thirteen thousand dollars is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund for expenses to be incurred in connection with the annexation of seven islands. SECTION 2.
