Whereas, the Legislature has passed a measure giving to
the City a portion of the road tax collected in Pulaski Bounty,
the larger portion of which is paid by residents and property
owners of the City, and properly should be applied to the repair
and upkeep of the City streets, and
Whereas, other cities are given their just proportion of
this tax from the collections made in their respective counties
as a matter of right, regardless of county financing, for the reason
that some return should be made to the people who actually pay the
tax, and the financial condition of the City of Little rock is to
a large extent caused by the fact that it has not heretofore re-
ceived its just peoportion of this taxq
POW THEREFOkE,
Be it prda-lxwd by the City Council of the City of Little Dock:
That it is the sense of this Council zx& that the Covernor, in
all justice to the people we represent, should sign the act providing
that
for a division of this tax, as ss= small as tkm portion allowed
under
max the bill is for the enormous amount of work required upon the
city streets, and that the Idayor and otter City Officials press
upon his Excellency the necessity from the city's standpoint of al-
lowing at least half of this tax to go into the work for which it
is collected.
