RESOLUTION NO. 1084.
WHEREAS, Under the franchise granted to the
Arkansaw Water Company by the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, said
City of Little :tock is obligated to pay to said rVater Company
the sum of zif ty -Dollars ($50.00) per year rental on each and
every water hydrant installed by said Water Company for the City
of Little Lock for use in extinguishing fires and as a measure
of protection against fire, and
WHEREAS, Said rentals on all of said water
hydrants upon which rent is chargeable to the City of Little
Rock amount to approximately Thirty -five Thousand Dollars
($35 000-00) per year, a sum increasing from year to year as more
hydrants are added according to the provisions of the above
mentioned franchise, and
WHEREAS, The Water Company has surrendered and
is not operating under the above mentioned franchise, and
WHEREAS, In the opinion of this body, said. rental
charges are excessive and unreasonable and proper steps should be
taken to secure a reduction in the amount of said charges,
Ii OW, TH REFORE, BE IT RFSOLV D, Ly the :ity
Council of Little :lock, Arkansas, that the City Attorney of the
City of Little .-;ock be authorized and directed and he is hereby
authorized and directed to present to the Arkansas Corporation
Commission a petition asking for a reduction in said rental
charges and to take proper steps to secure a reduction in said
charges, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said City Attorney
be directed and required and he is hereby directed and required
to pursue this cause until its final determination and that he be
directed and required and he is hereby directou and required to
make a complete report of the action taken in this cause to this
body at every meeting hereafter until the final determinaticn of
