RESOLUTION.
NO. 1184
it has been publicly anntnce d by the Fire
'41he re as,
Insurance Companies, operating and doing business in the State
of Arkansas, that they contemplate increasing the fire
insurance rates in the City of Little Rock and the State of
Arkansas; and
Whereas, the City Council of Little Rock has authorized
the exoenditure of various sums of money in the past and will
expend large sums in the future to perfect the mire Department
by purchasing equipment, making inspections regularly, and
installing fire hydrants at regular intervals over the entire
city; and
7hereas, the fire hazards and fire losses have been
greatly decreased in Little Rock by the efforts of the Council,
Mayor, and every city official and employee; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the members of the Council
and the Mayor to go on record as opposing an increase in the
fire insurance rates in the City of Little Rock and the State
of Arkansas, because there is no justification for such a
move -.ent upon the part of said companies;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that t'r_,e members of the
Council of the City of Little Rock and the Mayor denounce the
contemplated increase in the fire insurance rates in the City
of Little Rock and Arkansas, as being unjust, prohibitive and
mercenary, and that this expression of their feelings be
spread upon minutes of this meeting.
