1260Honorable H.A. Knowlton, Mayor Members of the Little Rock City Council Gentlemen: We, your committee duly appointed to draft a resolution on the death of the Honorable Charles E. Taylor, beg leave to submit the following: A--",t S An all wise Providence in it's wisdom, has taken from -ur midst, Charles E. Taylor. As a citizen, he stood the test of good citizenship. As a Mayor of Little Rock, while he served the city, he had in mind at all times its moral intellectual and financial uplift. Mr. Taylor was born at Austin, Mississippi, September 15, 1868 and came to Little Rock when a boy. He was educated in the Little Rock schools. Before entering politics he was actively engaged in business in this city. Mr. Taylor was first elected to.the office of mayor of Little Rock, April 10th, 1911 and served four consecutive terms until April 7th, 1919. When he entered upon his duties he was strong in body and alert in mind. He was kind and courteous to all who sought his advice on city matters, and was beloved by all of the city employees with whom he labored. Mr. Taylor was a good husband and father, and a faithful friend. His sterling character was an inspiration to all who knew him. In his passing, Little Rock and Arkansas has suffered the loss of a valuable citizen. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Little Rock that we herein express our deepest sympathy to his bereaved wife and family in their great hour of sorrow. That a copy of the resolution be spread upon the records of this council and that a copy be sent to the family. Signed at Little Rock, Arkansas, this the day of February, 1932.
