An all wise Providence in it's wisdom, has taken from -ur
midst, Charles E. Taylor. As a citizen, he stood the test
of good citizenship. As a Mayor of Little Rock, while he
served the city, he had in mind at all times its moral
intellectual and financial uplift.
Mr. Taylor was born at Austin, Mississippi, September 15, 1868
and came to Little Rock when a boy. He was educated in the
Little Rock schools. Before entering politics he was actively
engaged in business in this city.
Mr. Taylor was first elected to.the office of mayor of Little
Rock, April 10th, 1911 and served four consecutive terms until
April 7th, 1919. When he entered upon his duties he was strong
in body and alert in mind. He was kind and courteous to all
who sought his advice on city matters, and was beloved by all
of the city employees with whom he labored.
Mr. Taylor was a good husband and father, and a faithful
friend. His sterling character was an inspiration to all
who knew him. In his passing, Little Rock and Arkansas has
suffered the loss of a valuable citizen.
