RESOLUTION
AHERFAS, there is now the City of Little
Pock a public work program the purpose of which is to furnish Bn
opportunity for the many unemployed persons of the City to earn the
necessities of life for the lack of which they now are suffering, and

eliminAtInn of stark want amcmg, t1he ninny of the (Iot.,z -unity
who heretofore have not been the victims of circumstances, and find
themselves in their present condition through no fault of their own,
and
WHEREkSo this program will include the relieving of suffer-
ing through direct contributions to persons who Tould otherwise be a
ourden rhich the Community coulJ not possibly carry because of past
�,,enerosity of the more fortunate individuals in making donations in
the name of 'humanity to the leap, IL'ortunate, and
WHEREAS$ this program was made possible through a loan from
the Reconstruction Finance Corporation created in the hour of need by
the United St: tes Governmcnt,
WHER'"ItAn, the Honorable Mayor of the City of Little Rock,
Horace A. Knowlton, throut,b his greptness of heart and. willingness to
labor beyond the limits prescribed 'by duty and loyalty, has been
largely instrumental in bringing about this laudable undertaking,

City of Little Rock, that a rising vote of sincere thanks be and is
hereby extended by this Council to the said Horace A. Knowlton for
his invaluable service to his City, that this resolution be spread on
the Resolutions ilecor(.)s of this Council, and that the City Clerk of
the City of Little Rock is hereby ordered and directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to each of the daily newspapers of
the City for publication in order that the thinking people of this
Co--unity may know and aporeciate the said service.
