WHEREAS, The World gar, with its tremendous loss
of millions of lives and billions of dollars of property has
been the largest contributing cause of the 1;aorld —wide
depression,
WHEREAS, This economic disaster has caused untold
suffering and destitution to tens of millions of innocent
people in every corner of the globe, and has saddled future
generations of every land with unbearable taxes,
WHEREAS, Neither the World liar nor this economic
depression had been caused by these innocent millions,
WHEREAS, The nations of the world without the true
expression of their peoples have in the past few years dis-
regarded all efforts towards peace,
WHEREAS, The feeling of unrest which exists
throughout the world is hampering the hopes of international
recovery,
WHEREAS, The next great war will be a war of
extermination, wiping out millions of men, women and children,
and perhaps destroy civilization itself, BE IT
RESOLVED, That the Council, the IMayor, and the
people o-' the City of Little Rock, do hereby urge our
Honorable President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Congress,
and the governmentsof the world to extend their supreme
efforts to bring about lasting peace and good will amongst
men.
