14051ORDINANCE NO. 14,051 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER. 12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCE'S OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, SAID CHAPTER, DEALING WITH THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION 1. The following sections and subsections of Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordinances are amended as follows: Sec. 12-2, Subparagraph D. Amend to read as follows: 11D. Single residences, apartments and condominiums shall be permitted to be wired throughout with wire having a minimum ampadity of 'fifteen(15) amperes with ground except kitchens, dining rooms, laundry roans, bathrooms, attached garages and outside receptacles shall be wired with wire having a minimum ampacity of twenty (20) amperes with ground. Fifteen (15) ampere circuits may have not more than eight openings or two bedroans provided the number of outlets does not overload the circuit. Kitchens, dining roans, and laundry rooms shall not have more than two (2) duplex receptacles per circuit. Each fifteen (15) ampere circuit and each twenty (20) ampere circuit shall be protected with fuse or breaker rated at not more than fifteen (15) amperes or twenty (20) amperes respectively." Sec. 12 -2, Delete subparagraph F1 and renumber remaining paragraphs as follows: Change paragraph 2 to 1; Change paragraph 3 to 2 Change paragraph 4 to 3; Change paragraph 5 to 4. Sec. 12 -2, Subparagraph K. Amend to read as follows: "K. A service or grouped services shall not have more than six (6) breakers or means of disconnect without a main. Individually owned condominiums shall be permitted to have a separate set of service - entrance conductors which are tapped from one service drop or lateral. TWO or more sub sets of service - entrance conductors shall be permitted to be tapped from a single set of main service - entrance conductors provided individual units are separated by two -hour fire rated construction as defined by the applicable building code of the City of Little Rock and that all electrical circuitry served by the individual meter is confined within the unit supplied by that meter." Page 2 Sec. 12 -12 Amend to read as follows: "Examination and License Required; Penalty for violation (a) No person, member and /or employee of a firm or corporation shall engage in the electrical business of installing, altering or repairing any electrical wiring, fixtures, devices or equipment in the City; unless such persons, members and /or employees of a firm or corporation have been duly examined and have been issued a license to engage in such business; such license to have been issued by the Little Rock Board of Electrical Examiners and Appeals or the State Board of Electrical Examiners as established by Act 870 of 1979. Permits to perform electrical work shall be issued by the Chief Electrical Inspector only to such persons, members and /or employees of a firm or corporation holding such license. (b) Any person, member and /or employee of a firm or corporation in the City doing electrical work covered bar this Chapter are holding himself or itself out as licensed to do electrical work or engaging in the electrical business of anyone or more branches of electrical industry as hereinafter defined without first successfully passing an examination given by the Board or by complying with Act 870 of 1979 and securing a license in the manner hereinafter set forth shall upon conviction thereof be guilty of a misdemeanor." Sec. 12 -14 (A.) Amend to read as follows: "A. Master Electrician 1. Qualifications for Master Electrician shall be determined by the Board of Electrical Examiners of the State of Arkansas as authorized by Act 870 of 1979. 2. Each individual possessing a Master Electrician license with the City of Little Rock may retain such license by complying with the renewal provisions of Section 12 -13 of this Article. 3, Renewal fee for Master Electrician shall be $7.50." Sec. 12-14 (B.) Amend to read as follows: "B. Journeyman Electrician 1. Qualifications for Journeyman Electrician shall be determined by the Board of Electrical Examiners of the State of Arkansas as authorized by Act 870 of 1979. 2. Each individual possessing a Journeyman Electrician license with the City of Little Rock may retain such license by complying with the renewal provisions of Section 12 -13 of this Article. 3. Renewal fee for Journeyman Electrician shall be $5.00." a Page 3 Sec. 12 -17 is amended to read as follows: "SECTION 12 -17 Display of License A. Every person, firm or corporation licensed under this article shall display such license in his or its plaice of business. B All vehicles operated within the City Limits of Little Rock by the various types of electrical contractors shall have the company name stenciled, painted, or suitably attached on each side of the vehicle. The company name shall be in letters of at least t o inch size." Sec. 12-22 Delete the entire Section.
