AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 23- 2(VII)
AND 23 -30 OF CHAPTER 23 OF THE LITTLE ROCK
CODE OF ORDINANCES (MOTOR VEHICLES FOR HIRE);
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the orderly operation of taxicabs at the Greater
Little Rock Regional Airport is in the public's best interest, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is empowered to pre-
scribe appropriate legislation to ensure said orderly operation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That Section 23- 2(VII) of the Little Rock
Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(VII). Emergency revocation: grounds for
revocation or suspension of permit. The City
Manager or designated agent has the power to
automatically revoke a taxicab permit or
driver's permit in the case of an emergency.
He or she also has the power to obtain an
injunction in the event of such emergency.
The City Manager or designated agent shall
hold hearings to revoke or suspend a driver's
permit and to recommend the revocation or
suspension of a taxicab permit to the Board
of Directors; provided, however, that the
manager of the airport or his designee shall
have the power to hold hearings regarding the
violation of airport rules and regulations and
may suspend or revoke the privilege of opera-
ting a taxicab on airport property for viola-
tions of those rules. Such action may be taken
for, but shall not be limited to violation of
rules and regulations as developed by the City
Manager or designated agent, violations of
ordinances, criminal laws of the State of
Arkansas, or the laws of the United States."
Section 2. That Section 23 -30 of the Little Rock Code
of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Operation of a taxicab on airport premises
after the operator's license has been revoked
or suspended under Section 23.2(VII) herein
shall be a misdemeanor. Each separate offense
shall be punishable by a fine of not less
than $50 nor more than $500. If the offense
or violation is continuous in respect to time,
the maximum penalty or fine shall not exceed
$250 for each day the offense or violation
may be unlawfully continued."
Section 3. Thi Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
