134791 RESOLUTION NO. 13,479 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE CURRENT CONTRACT WITH 4 LINCOLN FINANCIAL SERVICES TO PROVIDE LONG -TERM 5 DISABILITY INSURANCE FOR NON - UNIFORM CITY EMPLOYEES 6 FOR TWO (2) YEARS, EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2012; AND FOR OTHER 7 PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the current provider for long -term disability insurance for non - uniform City employees, 10 Lincoln Financial Services ( "Lincoln "), has offered a very attractive renewal package at a rate that is 11 guaranteed for two (2) years; and 12 WHEREAS, the proposed renewal will represent the fifth and sixth years of a maximum seven (7)- 13 year term described in the most recent Request for Proposal; and 14 WHEREAS, during the most recent Request for Proposal review, it was determined that Lincoln 15 provided the most attractive package of premium rates and benefits; and 16 WHEREAS, representatives of Lincoln have been responsive to the needs of City Administrative 17 Staff and employees filing for disability benefits; 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 19 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 20 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to extend the current contract with Lincoln Financial 21 Services to provide long -term disability insurance benefits to non - uniform City employees for a two (2)- 22 year period effective May 1, 2012. 23 Section 2. Funds for the cost of this benefit are included in the budget line items for 24 employee benefits in the 2012 Budget. 25 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, 26 phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such 27 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall 28 remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 29 unconstitutional were not originally a part of the resolution. 30 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are 31 inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such 32 inconsistency.
