3 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
4 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE
5 GRANITE MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION PLAN; AND
6 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the area residents and the Granite Mountain Neighborhood Improvement
9 Association formed a Steering Committee to develop a neighborhood plan; and
10 WHEREAS, the residents and other "stakeholders" in the area participated in public
11 meetings to discuss and identify area concerns to include in the plan; and
12 WHEREAS, after months of work by the Planning Committee, a set of goals and objectives
13 were developed and presented to the Neighborhood Associations, and the Little Rock Planning
14 Commission; and
15 WHEREAS, this plan (goals and objectives) provides a way for both neighborhood -based
16 groups and others working in and around the neighborhood to advance the desires and meet the
17 needs of the residents;
18 WHEREAS, comprehensive planning must include not only interests of the neighborhood
19 immediately affected but the interests of the City as a whole; and
20 WHEREAS, local government encourages and supports neighborhood -based coalitions that
21 develop individual neighborhood organizations, articulate neighborhood views on community -
22 wide issues, and facilitated the planning process; and
23 WHEREAS, advocacy planning by neighborhoods is an acceptable and legitimate role for
24 citizens and professional planners.
25 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
26 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
27 Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock does support the vision and
28 goals as expressed in the Granite Mountain Neighborhood Action Plan.
