ORDINANCE NO. 20,514
3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 9 OF THE LITTLE ROCK
4 REVISED CODE OF ORDINANCES TO REFLECT THE PROPER NAME
5 OF OAKLAND & FRATERNAL HISTORIC CEMETERY PARK; AND
6 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
8 WHEREAS, Chapter 9 of the Little Rock Revised Code of Ordinances refers to the Oakland -
9 Fraternal Cemetery in a manner to suggest that it is one (l) cemetery with two (2) names; and,
10 WHEREAS, Oakland Cemetery and Fraternal Cemetery are two (2) distinct historic cemeteries with
I l related but independently significant backgrounds; and,
12 WHEREAS, the name has recently been changed to the Oakland- Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park,
13 and the Board to the name the Oakland - Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park Board, the name should proper-
14 ly reflect the individual cultural heritage of each cemetery; and,
15 WHEREAS, the manner in which to accomplish this identity of two (2) separate cemeteries instead
16 of one (1) cemetery with two (2) names is to change the name formally to note the distinction;
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
18 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
19 Section 1. Division 2 of Chapter 9 of the Little Rock Revised Code of Ordinances (1988) is hereby
20 amended to refer in all relevant places to the Oakland & Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park, or the Oakland
21 & Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park Board, as may be appropriate.
22 Section 2. Any other relevant provision of the Little Rock Revised Code of Ordinances (1988) is
23 hereby amended to refer to the Oakland & Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park, or the Oakland & Fraternal
24 Historic Cemetery Park Board, as necessary.
25 Section 3. Severability. In the event any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, subparagraph,
26 item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconsti-
27 tutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining provisions of this ordinance, as if
28 such invalid or unconstitutional provision were not originally a part of this ordinance.
29 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with this or-
30 dinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
