3 A RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE CURRENT CONTRACT WITH
4 LINCOLN FINANCIAL SERVICES TO PROVIDE LONG -TERM
5 DISABILITY INSURANCE FOR NON - UNIFORM CITY EMPLOYEES
6 FOR ONE (1) -YEAR EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2011; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, the current provider for long -term disability insurance for non- uniform City employees,
10 Lincoln Financial Services ( "Lincoln "), has submitted a renewal proposal which provides coverage that is
11 unchanged from 2010, and
12 WHEREAS, the proposed renewal will represent the fourth year of a maximum seven (7) -year term
13 described in the most recent Request for Proposal, and
14 WHEREAS, the renewal quote will not result in an increase in the premium, and
15 WHEREAS, during the most recent Request for Proposal review, it was determined that Lincoln
16 provided the most attractive package of premium rates and benefits, and
17 WHEREAS, representatives of Lincoln have been responsive to the needs of City administrative
18 staff and employees filing for disability benefits, and
19 WHEREAS, the cost for providing this coverage to non - uniform employees has been included in the
20 appropriate budget line items.
21 NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to extend the current contract with Lincoln Financial
24 Services to provide long -term disability insurance benefits to City employees for a one (1) -year period
25 that will be effective as of May 1, 2011.
26 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
30 resolution.
31 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with
32 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
