3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW
4 THE CONTRACT WITH TRAVELERS INSURANCE COMPANY FOR
5 CITY PROPERTY INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR AN ADDITIONAL
6 YEAR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock owns a significant number of buildings from which City
9 operations are conducted, and
10 WHEREAS, the City purchases insurance coverage to insure against loss and damage to
11 City -owned buildings, facilities and other properties, and
12 WHEREAS, the incumbent provider of the coverage for City -owned buildings, facilities and
13 other properties has proposed renewal of the coverage at a premium rate that is the same as for
14 the 2007 -2008 policy year despite a significant number of substantial claims that have occurred
15 since that time.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to renew the property insurance coverage
19 provided by Travelers Insurance Company for City -owned buildings for the twelve (12) -month
20 period effective October 1, 2010.
21 Section 2. Funds for the cost of the coverage are included as a line item in the 2010 City
22 Budget.
23 Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or adjudged to
24 be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining
25 portions of this resolution, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared
26 or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, were not originally a part of the resolution.
27 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are
28 inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such
29 inconsistency.
