RESOLUTION NO. 13,177
A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A
ONE (1) -YEAR EXTENSION OF THE ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
AGREEMENT WITH MOTOROLA, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $648,507.51;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Motorola, Inc., has provided the maintenance for the City's 800 MHz radio system
infrastructure for over sixteen (16) years; and
WHEREAS, Grace Communications Company of North Little Rock is the only communications
company in central Arkansas which has Motorola trained technicians, the proprietary software and testing
equipment available to maintain the City's radio network infrastructure and is the service provider
authorized by Motorola; and
WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark., Ordinance No. 20,158 (September 15, 2009) dispensed with
competitive bidding and awarded a maintenance agreement with Motorola, Inc. for the City's emergency
communications infrastructure, including the portable and mobile radios utilized by the Little Rock Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, the ordinance also provided for three annual extensions of the agreement with
Motorola, Inc. upon recommendation of the City Manager;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a one -year
maintenance agreement with Motorola, Inc. in the amount of Six Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand, Five
Hundred Seven and 51 /100 Dollars ($648,507.51), with Grace Communications Company of North Little
Rock to provide maintenance to the City's MHz radio system.
Section 2. Funding for this project will be available through 9 -1 -1 fees.
Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
resolution.
Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
