7 UTILIZED FOR EXPANSION OF OAK FOREST PARK AND TO PROVIDE
8 IMPROVED ACCESS TO OAK FOREST PARK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS, Oak Forest Park, located at West 14`h and Pierce Streets, is a neighborhood park with
11 limited access along a public utility easement; and
12 WHEREAS, acquisition of the 7,920 square foot residential lot at 5812 West 14th Street would
13 provide much needed public access to Oak Forest Park; and
14 WHEREAS, a recent Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for this property indicated that there
15 were no environmental hazards except asbestos in the glue on the floor tiles of the existing structure,
16 which will need to be removed prior to demolition of the structure; and
17 WHEREAS, the Parks Department's offer to purchase the 7,920 square foot residential lot adjacent
18 to Oak Forest Park for Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) was accepted by the property owners; and
19 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors finds that the purchase of this property for expansion of Oak
20 Forest Park would be beneficial to the recreational interests and the general welfare of the citizens of the
21 City of Little Rock.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
23 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
24 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the purchase of the residential lot with
25 improvements located at 5812 West 14th Street, and more particularly described in Attachment "A" to this
26 resolution, for Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) and hereby authorizes the expenditure of an amount
27 not to exceed Eight Hundred Dollars ($800.00) for document preparation, recording fees and closing
28 costs.
29 Section 2. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager, Mayor and City Clerk to
�30 execute any documents necessary and take other actions needed to purchase the property for use as a
31 public park and park access.

Section 3. Funds for the purchase of this property are available from the refinancing of the
Presidential Library Park Bonds.
Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
resolution.
Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
with the provisions of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
