3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD
4 A CONTRACT TO HELLAS CONSTRUCTION, INC., FOR
5 RESURFACING SIXTEEN TENNIS COURTS AT REBSAMEN TENNIS
6 CENTER; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the Rebsamen Tennis Center was constructed over two decades ago and has,
9 over the years, received awards for being one of the best facilities of its kind in the southern
10 United States, and
11 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock Department of Parks and Recreation has determined
12 that the Rebsamen Tennis Center tennis courts and walkways have deteriorated and are in need
13 of resurfacing in order to continue to attract tennis enthusiasts, and
14 WHEREAS, the City competitively bid the resurfacing services for sixteen (16) tennis
15 courts and Hellas Construction, Inc., submitted the only acceptable bid, in the amount of Sixty -
16 Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred Dollars ($69,900.00), and
17 WHEREAS, Parks staff has reviewed the bid, determined that is responsive and responsible
18 and recommends that it be approved along with a ten percent (10 %) contingency, for a total of
19 Seventy -Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred Ninety Dollars ($78,890.00).
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
21 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
22 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Hellas Con -
23 struction, Inc., in the amount of Sixty -Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred Dollars ($69,900.00),
24 with ten percent contingencies, for a total of Seventy -Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred Ninety
25 Dollars ($78,890.00), for the resurfacing of sixteen (16) of the Rebsamen Tennis Center tennis
26 courts.
27 Section 2. The funds for the contract are available from the 1998 Park Bond Refinance.
28 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause,
29 phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
30 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall
31 remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitu-
32 tional were not originally a part of the resolution.

Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with
this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
