RESOLUTION NO. 13,067
3 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
4 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE GOALS AND
5 OBJECTIVES OF THE 12TH STREET CORRIDOR PLAN; AND FOR
6 OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Planning Commission did approve a resolution of support of
9 the Goals and Objectives of the 12th Street Corridor Plan at their December 17, 2009, public
10 hearing; and,
11 WHEREAS; the 12th Street Corridor Committee working with area residents, business
12 owners, religious leaders and other interested groups has developed the 12th Street Corridor Plan
13 to help revitalize the neighborhoods and business areas of the Corridor; and,
14 WHEREAS, the 12th Street Corridor Committee engaged in a broad -based inclusive process
15 to develop a Plan for the area's future; and,
16 WHEREAS, the residents and other "stakeholders" in the area participated in several public
17 meetings to discuss and identify area concerns to include in the plan; and,
18 WHEREAS, after several months of work, goals and objectives were developed and
19 presented to the residents, associations, business groups and other interested parties; and,
20 WHEREAS, this Plan (Goals and Objectives) provides a way for both neighborhood based
21 groups and others working in and around the neighborhoods to advance the desires and meet the
22 needs of the residents; and,
23 WHEREAS, comprehensive planning must include not only interests of the neighborhood
24 immediately affected but the interests of the city as a whole; and,
25 WHEREAS, local government encourages and supports neighborhood -based coalitions that
26 develop individual neighborhood organizations, articulate neighborhood views on community-
27 wide issues, and facilitated the planning process; and,
28 WHEREAS, advocacy planning by neighborhoods is an acceptable and legitimate role for
29 citizens and professional planners;
30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
31 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock does support the vision and
goals as expressed in the 12th Street Corridor Plan.
