3 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
4 ROCK, ARKANSAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE LITTLE ROCK CITYWIDE HISTORIC
5 PRESERVATION PLAN OF 2009.

7 WHEREAS, citizens of the City of Little Rock formed a Steering Committee for the completion of a
8 Citywide Historic Preservation Plan; and
9 WHEREAS, the residents and other stakeholder organizations participated in public meetings to comment
10 on the proposed plan; and
11 WHEREAS, after several months of work by the Steering Committee, Staff and Consultant; and
12 WHEREAS, this Plan (Goals and sub - goals) provides recommendations for the City, organizations and

citizens to advance the historic preservation issues of the plan; and
WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for fostering local pride, revitalizing neighborhoods,
and maintaining community character while enhancing livability; and
WHEREAS, historic preservation is relevant for communities across the nation, both urban and rural, and
for Americans of all ages, all walks of life and all ethnic backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, the City has received letters of support from various organizations and individuals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock does support the goals and sub -goals as
expressed in the Little Rock Citywide Historic Preservation Plan of 2009.
