20159I ORDINANCE NO. 20,159 2 3 AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT REVISED RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE 4 LITTLE ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 5 6 WHEREAS, Arkansas civil service law provides that employees of police and fire departments that operate under a 7 civil service system shall be'governed by rules and regulations adopted by the governing body of the municipality; and 8 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Fire Department ( "LRFD ") has submitted for approval a revised set of rules and 9 regulations; and 10 WHEREAS, the most recent set of LRFD Rules and Regulations was adopted in 1986; and 11 WHEREAS, it is necessary to adopt revised rules and regulations to ensure they are current and in compliance with 12 all laws that have been enacted since the adoption of the 1986 rules and regulations. 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE 14 ROCK, ARKANSAS: 15 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby adopts the revised Little Rock Fire Department Rules and Regulations 16 dated September 2009, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit "A." 17 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this 18 ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the 19 remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged to 20 be invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the ordinance. 21 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same that are inconsistent with the 22 provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 23 Section 5. Emergency Clause.
