PRESCRIBING A TAX TH- -RE,,N AND FOR OTH` -R PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THz CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
Section 1. That from and after the passage and apnrova.l of this
ordinance it is declared to be a privilege to practice any form of fortune
telling and it shall be unlawful for any fortune teller of whatever name
it may be designated, be it clairvoyant, the practice of palmistry,
phrenology or horoscope reading, or by any other name whatever, either man,
woman or child, to practice said trade until said person shall have paid,
to the City of Little Rock a tax of Thirty (9-30.00) Dollars per month
privilege tax to practice their trade within the corporate limits of
the City of Little Rock.
Section 2. Said tax shall be collected by the City Collector of
the City of Little Rock, who shall issue a receipt for same and a.11
persons engaged in such trade or calling: as set out in Section 1 of this
Ordinance, shall display in a conspicuous place at their place of business,
the receipt for the payment of such license for the current month in
which they are doing; business.
Section 3. Licenses issued under the provisions of this ordinance
may be revoked by the Chief of Police where the licensee has been found
guilty of violating the criminal laws of the State of Arkansas or the
City of Little Rock.
Section 4. Any person found guilty of violating any provision of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a. misdemeanor and upon conviction
shall be fined not more than Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250.00).
Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after the date of its passage.
