ORDINANCE NO. 4366.
AN ORDINANCE TO BETTER PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH IN THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
BE IT ORDAIMED BY THEE CITY COUNCIL OF TIC CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS -
Section 1. All ice used, manufactured in the
City of Little Rock, or sold for domestic purposes in the
City of Little Rock, shall be made of distilled water,
or from a water supply approved by the Little Rock Health
Dep artment .

the water supply from which the ice is manufactured is
found to be impure to a degree that the Little Rock
Health Department does not approve the same, the manuf-
acturer shall be given notice to secure a
supply from ii G
Section 2. All factories, shops, store - rooms,
warehouses, or other places where ice is manufactured,
stored or handled for sale, service or consumption, shall
be properly floored, trap - drained, and ventilated. All
such factories, shops, st ore -rooms , warehouses or other
places shall blr�kept sdt'uPtTn1MTs" - an and in a sanitary
condition at all times, and they shall be kept free of
all dirt, dust, trash or other substance which might enter
into or beccme mixed with the ice, or anything prepared
with or from ice, so as to contaminate or render it un-
clean or unsanitary.
Section 3. All trucks, wagons or other vehicles
from Which ice is sold or delivered in the City of Little
Rock shall be kept clean and sanitary and free from any
substance or material that might in any way contaminate
the ice, or anything prepared from or with ice. No ice
delivered by dealer or agent, intended for human consump-
tion, shall be transported through the Streets, alleys
or any other place without adequate protection from
dust, dirt, flies, animals and the sun.
Section 4. Ice left or delivered in exposed
Places shall be washed by the consumer before being put
in refrigerators or receptacles and shall be handled with
tongs or other approved appliances. No ice shall be
wasiled except with clean pure, fresh water contained
in clean containers or drawn from a hydrant with clean
hose and nozzle, or by means of a clean dipper.
Section 5. All persons engaged in the mmufacture,
sale, delivery or distribution of ice shall be required
to furnish the same evidence of freedom from ccmnunicable
disease as other food handlers.
Section 6. At any time ice or vater from which
ice is made shows evidence of dangerous contamination, such
ice shall not be offered for sale or use for human consump-
tion or domestic trade.
Section 7. When a brown core or other discolora-
tion appears in ice, due to rusty or dirty pipes, tanks,
vats, cans, cylinder oil, or other cause of impurity, it
shall not be sold for any other purpose than refrigeration
or cold storage purposes, in such a manner that such ice
shall not come into contact with any article or substance
intended for human consumption.
Section 8. It shall be unlawful for any person,
whether an employer, employee, or not, to enter any place
where ice is manufactured, stored, sold, delivered or
handled, with soiled shoes, or for any person to spit in
any such place.
Section 9. Any person, persons, firm or corpor-
ation found guilty of aW violation of any section of
this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction in Little Rock Municipal Court, shall
be fined in any sum not less than five Dollars (%;5.00)
nor more than One hundred dollars M00.00) , and each
violation, or each day that such violation exists, shall
constitute a separate offense.
Section 10. All ordinances or parts of ordin-
ances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, insofar
as they conflict only.
Section 11. This ordinance being for the imediate
protection of the public health and safety, shall take
effect and be in force from and after its passage.
