A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONTINUE
A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM IN THE LITTLE ROCK
SCHOOL DISTRICT, BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2009, AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2010.
WHEREAS, the Police Department and the District initiated this School Resource Officer Program
in 1992 with (1) officer; and
WHEREAS, the program now includes fourteen (14) officers and one (1) police supervisor , with
assignments in each Little Rock School District high school, three of the junior high schools, Hamilton
Learning Academy and Felders Learning Academy; and
WHEREAS, the contract has been updated to include reimbursement provisions pertaining to school
calendar days and paid leave; and
WHEREAS, the School District reimburses the City for one -half (50 %) of the salary, benefits,
overtime, and compensatory time for the School Resource Officers (SRO) while school is in session.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the Little Rock School
District to continue a School Resource Officer Program in the Little Rock School District beginning
October 1, 2009, and ending September 30, 2010, with the option to renew for two (2) additional terms.
Section 2. Reimbursements for the 2009 -2010 school year are estimated at $306,849.96.
Section 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
