3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
4 WITH ACE USA INSURANCE COMPANY TO PROVIDE ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND
5 DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES; AND FOR
6 OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock provides basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage to
9 all regular full -time City employees and, additionally, offers employees the opportunity to purchase a
10 voluntary ADEtD policy through payroll deduction, and
11 WHEREAS, in response to the most recent Request for Proposal, ACE USA Insurance Company
12 submitted a two -year renewal proposal with no increase in premium rate and was selected as the low -
13 cost, most - qualified provider of these coverages, effective January 1, 2008;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
15 ROCK, ARKANSAS:
16 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to extend the contract with ACE USA Insurance
17 Company for two -years to provide the basic ADEtD coverage provided by the City to all regular full -time
18 employees and the voluntary ADEtD coverage available to such employees through payroll deduction,
19 for the policy years 2008 and 2009.
20 Section 2. Funds for the cost of the coverage are included as a line item in the 2008 City budget.
21 Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be
22 invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of
23 this resolution, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged
24 invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of this resolution.
25 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which are in conflict with
26 any provision of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
