12564-X1 RESOLUTION NO. 12,564 — X 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF NEW FIREWALLS AND 4 ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS FROM VIGILAR TO PROVIDE UPDATED SECURITY FOR 5 THE CITY'S COMPUTER NETWORKS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 6 7 WHEREAS, the City's firewalls act as a virtual wall in protecting the unauthorized access to the 8 City's Network and its resources by untrusted environments, such as the internet, and 9 WHEREAS, the City's VPN hardware and software allows trusted and authorized users access to the 10 City's Network from anywhere in the world, and 11 WHEREAS, the City's firewalls and associated systems are outdated and in need of upgrade to 12 support the additional requirement of the new systems for the Housing and Neighborhood Programs, 13 Planning and Development Department, Parks Department and the overall increase in communications 14 over the internet, and 15 WHEREAS, an RFP was posted to provide this upgrade of the firewalls and VPN and the bid of 16 Vigilar was awarded to Vigilar, for an amount not to exceed Sixty -two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars 17 ($62,500.00); 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE 19 ROCK, ARKANSAS: 20 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Vigilar for the 21 purchase of new firewalls and associated systems for the City's Network, in an amount not to exceed 22 Sixty -two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($62,500.00). 23 Section 2. Funds for this purchase are available in the IT Department's 2007 Short -Term Financing 24 Account #325309- F2277311. 25 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, 26 phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such 27 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain 28 in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not 29 originally a part of the resolution. 30 Section 4. Repealer.
