AN ORDINACE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS REVISED CODE (1988) CONCERNING REMOVAL OF
CERTAIN SEGMENTS OF THE FIRE DISTRICT, DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Building Codes and Fire Department staffs have met to review
the current provisions as they relate to the Fire District in the City, and
WHEREAS, the Building Codes and Fire Department staffs have developed the
following set of amendments to the revised code which are recommended for adoption by
the Little Rock Board of Directors, in order to remove four segments of the Fire District
within the City, and
WHEREAS, such amendments are appropriate and necessary for the health,
safety and welfare of citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. These sections of Little Rock, Arkansas Revised Code (1988) Sec.
8 -32 (3)(4)(6)(8) is hereby deleted in its entirety and following language substituted
therefore:
Sec. 8 -32 Fire District
There is hereby created within the City one (1) Fire District with segments
bounded or identified as follows:

(1) Begin at McLean Street and the Arkansas River and extend south to a
point half -way between Sixth and Seventh Streets, thence west to the
west right -of -way line of Interstate Highway No. 30, thence north
along said west right -of -way line of Interstate No. 30 to a point half-
way between Second and Third Streets, thence west to the west right -
of -way line of Rock Street, thence south along Rock Street to the
north right -of -way line of Capitol Avenue, thence west along Capitol
Avenue to the west right -of -way line of Cumberland Street, thence
south along Cumberland Street to the north right -of -way line of
Eighth Street, thence west along Eighth Street to the west right -of-
way line of Scott Street, thence south along Scott Street to the south
right -of -way line of Interstate No. 630, thence northwesterly along

said line to the east right -of -way line of Victory Street, thence north
along Victory Street to Capitol Avenue, thence east along the south
right -of -way line of Capitol Avenue to the east right -of -way line of
Chester Street, thence north along Chester Street to the Arkansas
River, thence easterly along the Arkansas River to McLean Street to
the point of beginning.
(2) That area of land lying within one hundred forty (140) feet north of
the north right -of -way line and one hundred forty (140) feet south of
the south right -of -way line, parallel with and adjacent to the right -of-
way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard from Walnut Street to Monroe
Street.
(3) Beginning at the northeast corner of Cantrell Road and University
Avenue, thence run east to the west right -of -way line of Fillmore
Street, thence north to the south right -of -way line of "R" Street,
thence east to the west right -of -way line of Taylor Street, thence run
north to the south right -of -way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard, thence
run west to the east right -of -way line of University Avenue, thence
run south to the point of beginning.
(4) Beginning at the intersection of the north right -of -way line of Cantrell
Road and the east right =of -way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard thence
north and west along the east and north right -of -way line of
Kavanaugh Boulevard thence north and west along the east and north
right -of -way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard to the east right -of -way
line of Harrison Street, thence north one hundred forty (140) feet,
thence east to a point one hundred forty (140) feet east of the east
right -of -way line of Van Buren Street, thence south to the north right -
of -way line of Cantrell Road, thence west one hundred forty (140)
feet along the north right -of -way line of Cantrell Road to the point of
beginning.
SECTION 2. Severabiliry. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item,
sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid
or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining
portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so
declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
ordinance.
SECTION 3. Repealer. All ordinances, regulations, bylaws and other matters
inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
