AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF
WEST 16TH STREET AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING BETWEEN
JONES AND WOODROW STREETS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS.
Whereas, a request was made by a member of the Little Rock Board of Directors asking
the Board to close a portion of right -of -way described below pursuant to its general police
power authority under Ark. Code Arm. §14 -54 -104;
Whereas, the Board of Directors has determined that this portion of West 16th Street at
the railroad crossing has become hazardous to pedestrians and vehicles because of frequent train
traffic over the street; and
Whereas, the Board has determined that the closing of this portion of West 16th Street
will not have an adverse impact on the adjacent property owners nor the through traffic as traffic
can adequately proceed via adjacent streets, and therefore, the section of street closed by this
ordinance is no longer needed for corporate purposes except as otherwise noted below.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby releases, vacates, and abandons all of the
right of the City of Little Rock, together with the right of the public in general, in and to the
street right of way described as follows:
A portion of West 16th Street between the west right -of -way of
Jones Street and the east right -of -way of Woodrow Street,
consisting of two (2) strips of land on either side of an existing
railroad crossing, both extending sixty feet (601) from the north
and south right of way lines of 16th Street with one extending
five feet (5') east and the other five feet (51) west and
immediately adjacent to the Missouri Pacific Railroad right -of-
way, in Worthen and Brown Addition to the City of Little
Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas.
Section 2. The City specifically reserves a public utility and drainage easement
within the former street right of way.
Section 3. The City shall block and erect a gate or other
crossing as deemed appropriate to remove all vestiges of public through

Section 4. A copy of this ordinance duly certified by the City Clerk, shall be
filed in the real estate records of the recorder of the Circuit Clerk in ex officio recorder of Pulaski
County, Arkansas.
