AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 OF THE
LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE 2000
INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Little Rock, ARK. Revised Code § 8 -3 adopts by reference the 2000 edition
of the "International Residential Code" with Appendices "E ", "H ", "J ", "K" and deletes Chapters
20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, both published by the International Code Council;
and
WHEREAS, the City has complied with ARK. Code ANN x14 -55 -207 (1987) by
publishing a notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a paper of general
circulation within the municipality and there copies have been available for inspection in the City
Clerk's Office by the public prior to their adoption; and
WHEREAS, this Ordinance is necessary to update the City Code and authorize the use
of the 2000 edition within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Of'
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. This section of Little Rock, ARK. Rev. Code § 8 -3 (1988) is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 8 -3 Residential Code Adopted.
(A) The following publications are adopted by reference:
(1) The "2000 International Residential Code" with the most current
revisions and appendices "E ", "H ", "J ", "K" and deletes Chapters 20,
21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32 in its entirety.
(B) Notwithstanding the provisions of (A) above, the City consistent with other
provisions of State Law shall set the job qualifications for its employees. No
job qualifications contained in the International Residential Code are adopted
in any form whatsoever.
SECTION 2. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this provision are
hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict.
