18445I ORDINANCE NO. 18,445 0 2 3 AN ORDINANCE TO ALLOW ANIMAL SERVICES SHELTER FEES 4 TO BE ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE 5 6 7 WHEREAS, Animal Services shelter fees have previously been set by Little Rock, Ark. 8 Ordinance No. 15 -775, Little Rock, Ark. Ordinance No. 16,164, and Little Rock, Ark. Ordinance 9 No. 16,368; and 10 11 WHEREAS, shelter fees charged for recovering, adopting, or relinquishing dogs and cats 12 should, at minimum, compensate Animal Services for the approximate costs of impounding and 13 euthanizing or releasing the animals in accordance with applicable ordinances and current Arkansas 14 legislation; and 15 16 WHEREAS, the Animal Services Advisory Board has determined that efficient operation 17 of the Animal Services Shelter requires greater flexibility in establishing these fees in order to 18 recover necessary costs without discouraging recovery and adoption programs; and 19 20 WHEREAS, after review and consideration of these issues, the Animal Services Advisory 21 Board recommends that Animal Services shelter fees be established by the City Manager or his 22 designated representative. 23 24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 25 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 26 27 Section I. The Little Rock Animal Services shelter fees for redemption, daily board, 28 adoption, and relinquishment as described in Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code § 6- 52(c) -(g) (1988) may 29 hereafter be established by the Little Rock City Manager or his designee. 30 • • 1 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, 2 phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such 3 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance which shall 4 remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional 5 was not originally a part of this ordinance. 6 7 Section 3. Repealer.
