18368• w 952 1 ORDINANCE NO. ._18,368 2 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LITTLE ROCK, ARK., ORDINANCE 3 NO. 18,171 -A (JANUARY 4, 2000); FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES 4 FOR A SCHEDULE OF RATES OF THE LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL 5 WATER WORKS; ESTABLISHING THE METHODOLOGY FOR ANY 6 NECESSARY INCREASE IN SUCH RATES DURING THE YEAR 2001; 7 DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF 9 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, THAT: 10 Section L Little Rock, Ark., Ordinance No. 18,171 -A (January 4, 2000), is hereby 11 amended by replacing "January 1, 2001" with "January 1, 2002" each place it appears therein. 12 Section 2. The City declares its intention that, if revenue requirements of the Little Rock 13 Municipal Water Works necessitate a rate increase during 2001, such increase will be in equal 14 percentage increments for all classes of rate payers. 15 Section 3..Veverability. The provisions of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be 16 separable and if any provision shall for any reason be held illegal or invalid, such holding shall not 17 affect the validity of the remainder of the Ordinance. 18 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are 19 hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 20 Section S. Emergency Clause. It is hereby ascertained and declared that the rate increase 21 for water and water services set forth in Ordinance No. 18,171 -A in effect for the year 2000 22 should be continued through 2001 to allow for the consolidation of the water utilities of the Cities 23 of North Little Rock and Little Rock and that the consolidation must be accomplished as soon as 24 possible in order to make the water system adequate for the needs of the City and its inhabitants, 25 without which the life, health, safety, and welfare thereof are jeopardized, and that the taking of 26 the actions authorized by this Ordinance are necessary for the accomplishment thereof.
