3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK.,
4 REV. CODE § 22 -30 (1988) TO PERMIT REMOVAL OF
5 ANY PERSON ILLEGALLY CAMPING OR SLEEPING IN
6 A PUBLIC PARK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, current ordinances prohibit camping in a public park without a special
9 written permit granted by the parks and recreation department, and
10 WHEREAS, the penalty for such a violation is a fine to be administered after a citation
11 is issued and a person appears in court, and
12 WHEREAS, in order to clarify that the Parks Patrol and the Little Rock Police
13 Department have the authority to immediately remove any person camping, sleeping, or staying
14 in a public park without a permit after hours,
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
16 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
17 Section 1. Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Code § 22 -30 (1988) is hereby amended to read as
18 follows
19 No person shall stay after hours, camp, sleep, or lodge
20 within a public park except by special written permission granted
21 by the parks and recreation department. In addition to any other
22 sanction that may be assessed for the violation of this provision,
23 any person in violation of this ordinance shall be subject to the
24 immediate removal from the park of their person and belongings.
25 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, subtitle, section, subsection,
26 subdivision, paragraph, subparagraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance
27 is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall
28 not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect

as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of
this ordinance.
Section 3. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, or regulations, or any parts of such
documents, which are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to
the extent of such inconsistency.
