ORDINANCE NO. 16,996
AN ORDINANCE DISPENSING WITH THE
REQUIREMENT OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
UTILIZE THE EXISTING STATE CONTRACT
FOR PATROL SEDANS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT TO NORTH POINT FORD FOR THE
PURCHASE OF 44 POLICE PATROL SEDANS
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FLEET
SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors may dispense with the
requirement of competitive bidding in exceptional situations
where such procedure is not feasible; and
WHEREAS, notice has been received that Ford Motor Company
may cut off production of the 1996 police patrol sedans (Crown
Victoria) any day now; and
WHEREAS, due to the restricted time frame it is recommended
that the City utilize the existing state contract for police
patrol sedans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock finds that competitive bidding should be dispensed with for
the purchase of police patrol sedans as an exceptional situation
exists and competitive bidding is not feasible.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to utilize
the existing state contract and award a contract to North Point
Ford in the amount of $723,975 for forty -four (44) police patrol
sedans.
