169001 ORNANCE NO. 16,900 2 3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 16,523 SECTION 28 -8 OF 4 5 THE LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES TO REVISE LANDFILL 6 RATES FOR SOLID WASTE DUMPING; REVOKE THE PRACTICE OF 7 FREE DUMPING; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. a 9 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors passed Ordinance 16,523 on November 2, 10 1993 setting rates for dumping solid waste at the City's landfill; and 11 12 WHEREAS, costs of operation at the landfill have increased substantially; and 13 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has approved free dumping for certain 14 15 organizations and on one day per week by previous motions; and 16 WHEREAS, the City incurs substantial costs associated with the disposal of all 17 materials brought to its Landfill, including surcharges imposed upon it by the Arkansas 18 Department of Pollution Control and Ecology. 19 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 21 22 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 23 SECTION 1. Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code § 28 -8 subparagraphs (b)(1)(3) shall 24 be amended to read: 25 26 (b) The charges referred to in subsection (a) hereof shall be as follows: 27 1. Each compacted cubic yard, including building materials, five 2 29 9 dollars and fifty -five cents ($5.55), with a minimum fifteen dollars 30 ($15.00) dumping fee. 31 3. Each cubic yard of tree stumps, five dollars and fifty -five cents 32 ($5.55), with a minimum twenty -five dollars ($25.00) dumping fee. 33 34 SECTION 2. Subparagraphs (a), (b)(2)(4), and (c) of § 28 -8 are hereby retained 35 in their entirety. 36 196 • 197 SECTION 3. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock hereby directs the City Manager to revoke the previous free dumping privileges at the Little Rock Landfill as soon as practicable in 1995, after giving suitable notice to the public, except for the following agencies which may continue to dump free: the Salvation Army, the Union Rescue Mission; and Goodwill Industries.
