ORDINANCE NO. 16,854
AN ORDINANCE ALLOCATING $425,000 FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE (3) BLACKS
OF CAPITOL AVENUE FROM FERRY STREET
TO ROCK STREET, A FUTURE- LITTLE ROCK
PROJECT BEGINNING AT THE NEW POST
OFFICE SITE AND MOVING
WHEREAS, the Enhancement of Capitol Avenue Project was one
of the projects approved under the sales tax of Future - Little
Rock; and
WHEREAS, the Capitol Avenue Committee recommends that
$425,000 of the $1,000,000 original project be used for the
construction of three blocks of Capitol Avenue beginning at the
new Post Office; and
WHEREAS, the balance of the $1,000,000 original allocation
($525,000) shall be maintained to use as match money for ISTEA
applications for future block construction; and
WHEREAS, proceed with filing an ISTEA application for
federal funding in January; and
WHEREAS, consult with the Secretary of State's office for
possible participation in the western end of the Capitol Avenue
Project; and
WHEREAS, continue to explore the possibility of an
improvement district approach along Capitol Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The sum of four hundred twenty -five thousand
dollars ($425,000) is hereby allocated from Future - Little Rock
tax dollars to be used for the construction of three blocks of
Capitol Avenue beginning at the new Post Office site and moving
west.
