AN ORDINANCE DISPENSING WITH THE
REQUIREMENT OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
UTILIZE THE EXISTING STATE CONTRACT
FOR PATROL SEDANS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT TO SMART CHEVROLET FOR THE
PURCHASE OF 40 POLICE PATROL SEDANS.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors may dispense with the
requirement of competitive bidding in exceptional situations
where such procedure is not feasible; and
WHEREAS, notice has been received from the General Motors
Factory that bids will not be accepted beyond January 18; and
WHEREAS, due to the restricted time frame it is recommended
that the City utilize the existing state contract for police
patrol sedans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock finds that competitive bidding should be dispensed with for
the purchase of police patrol sedans as an exceptional situation
exists and competitive bidding is not feasible.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to utilize
the existing state contract and award a contract to Smart
Chevrolet in the amount of $655,880 for forty (40) police patrol
sedans.
