AINANCE NO. 16,590 •
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 16,561 ( "THE
1994 BUDGET ORDINANCE ") TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FUNDS
FOR THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT; FOR OTHER
PURPOSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on December 14, 1993, voters of the City of Little Rock approved
a one -half cent local sales tax to go into effect on February 1, 1994, a portion of the
proceeds from which was to be used to expand the Little Rock Police Department; and
WHEREAS, there are immediate and pressing needs for the additional personnel
and equipment that these funds will provide for the Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The 1993 Program Budget Summary attached to Ordinance No.
16,561, the 1994 Budget Ordinance, is hereby amended as follows to increase the budget
for the following Police Department Organizations by a total of $1,967,518:

SECTION 2. In addition to the above operating budget costs of this Police
Department expansion, eight new vehicles are required for the new personnel.
Accordingly, the third paragraph of Section 4 of Ordinance No. 16,561 is hereby
amended to increase the vehicle acquisition appropriation by the amount of $159,030,
and is hereby amended to read as follows:

"There is hereby appropriated from the Fleet Fund
acquisition budget $1,888,024 for purchase of vehicles
required to meet the needs of the City's departments."
SECTION 3. DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. It is hereby found and
determined that there is an immediate and urgent need to provide additional law
enforcement protection to the citizens of the City of Little Rock, and that these
additional law enforcement services are essential for the protection of the public health,
safety and welfare; an emergency is therefore declared to exist and this Ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
