AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $15,000 TO THE LITTLE
ROCK DRUG ABATEMENT PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, the Board of Directors on August 15, 1989, by
Resolution No. 8,188 authorized the City Attorney to implement
the provisions of Act 556 of 1989 entitled The Arkansas Drug
Abatement Act of 1989; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has taken action to abate as
public nuisances all dwellings where drugs are used, stored or
manufactured; and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Alcohol Drug and Abuse Coordinating
Council has approved the City Attorney's application for $45,000
from the federal Drug Law Enforcement Grant program provided there
is a local match of $15,000; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to obtain injunctions in
civil court against locations at which drug transactions are
proven to frequently occur; and
WHEREAS, this program will be specifically geared to
eradicate drugs from the five Little Rock Housing Authority
developments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $15,000
from the unappropriated balance of the City's General Fund as the
City's local share to federal funds for the Little Rock Drug
Abatement Program.
