M WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department has determined that certain provisions of Chapter 32, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas place undue burdens on the department with respect to maintenance of records of traffic violations and ongoing responsibility for investigating the cases of drivers charged with frequent or serious violations of traffic laws. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Section 32 -38 of the Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code (1988), is hereby amended by substituting in its entirety the following language: The Police Department shall keep a record of all violations of the traffic ordinances of this city or of the state vehicle laws of which any person has been charged, together with a record of the final disposition of all such alleged offenses. Such records shall be so maintained as to show all types of violations and the total of each. All such records shall be kept for a period of at least three (3) years, with the exception of convictions for driving while intoxicated, which shall be maintained for six (6) years. For each month and year a written record shall be kept available to the public showing the disposal of all such cases. All such records and reports shall be public records. SECTION 2. Section 32 -39 of the Little Rock, Ark. Code Rev. (1988), is hereby amended by substituting in its entirety the following language: The Police Department shall maintain a suitable record of all traffic accidents, warnings, arrests, convictions, and complaints reported for each driver, which shall be filed alphabetically under the name of the driver concerned. Such records shall be kept for a period of three (3) years, with the exception of records of convictions for driving while intoxicated, which shall be maintained for six (6) years. SECTION 3. All laws and parts of laws which are inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. SECTION 4.
