3 AN ORDINANCE ANLNDING CHAPTER 36 OF
4 THE LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES,
5 PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS AND MEDICAL
WASTE DISPOSAL AS A CONDITIONAL USE
6 IN INDUSTRIAL ZONES DESIGNATED AS
7 I -2 AND I -3; AND FOR OTHER
8 PURPOSES.
9 N HEREAS, due to Federal regulations encouraging development
10 of innovative methods of disposing of hazardous and medical
11 waste, numerous companies are seeking permission to locate waste .
disposal facilities in various parts of the United States; and
12 N REA.S, waste disposal companies may seek to locate such
13 facilities within the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; and
14 SEAS, the City has enacted Ordinance No. 16,156
15 requiring a conditional use permit for the location of hazardous
16 and medical waste disposal facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 SECTION 1. Section 36- 320(c)(2) of the Little Rock, Ark.,
19 Rev. Code (1988) is hereby amended to add the following
20 conditional use:

21 follows:

23 (i) Hazardous or medical waste disposal
24 facility.

SECTION 2. Section 36- 321(c)(2) of Little Rock, Ark., Rev.
26 Code (1988) is amended to add the following conditional use:
27 (2) Conditional Uses. Conditional uses are as
28 follows:

30 (i) Hazardous or medical waste disposal
facility.
31 (j) Other industrial uses not expressly
32 provided for in the I -1 or I -2
33 districts unless prohibited by other
34 City ordinances.
35 SECTION 3. Declaring an emergency. It is hereby found and
declared that this ordinance is necessary to protect the public

1 health, safety, and welfare, and shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
