AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 15,381
REGARDING THE DISPOSITION OF FINES IMPOSED
FOR VIOLATION OF THE SAFETY BELT ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 15,381, adopted December 1, 1987, mandated the use
of safety belts within the City of Little Rock, provided a fine for violation of the
Ordinance, and directed that all monies generated from this fine be used only for public
awareness and education; and
WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas has now adopted a safety belt law and the
public has become generally aware of the benefits of their use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 15,381 is hereby repealed, and the
fines generated from the Ordinance be treated as other traffic fines, and the balance of
the monies in the special projects account be transferred to the Special Projects fund
balance.
SECTION 2. That all other provisions of Ordinance No. 15,381 remain in full
force and effect.
