AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE
NUMBER 16,331 ( °THE BUDGET
ORDINANCE61) TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
FUNDS FOR THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE
DEPARTMENT; FOR OTHER PURPOSES;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, to increase animal control fees and building
fees, the City has adopted two ordinances; and
WHEREAS, these additional funds would generate in 1993,
approximately $180,000; and
WHEREAS, $154,000 is available from the unappropriated
balances of the General Fund; and
WHEREAS, there are immediate and pressing needs of the
Little Rock Police Department particularly in order to fund a
tactical patrol unit and to appropriately fund a separate
detective unit for the southwest Little Rock police substation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. The 1993 Program Budget Summary attached as
Schedule 1 to Little Rock, Ark., Ordinance No. 16,331 (December
21, 1992) is hereby amended to add the following:

SECTION 2. DECLARING AN EKERGENCY. It is hereby found ant 0 Q
determined that there is an immediate and urgent need to
appropriately provide law enforcement protection to the citizens
of the City of Little Rock, particularly in the form of a
tactical patrol unit and in the creation of a detective unit for
southwest Little Rock, is essential for the public health,
safety and welfare; an emergency is therefore declared to exist
and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after the date of execution.
