AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO
THE CEFdTRAL ARKANSAS TRANSIT AUTHORITY
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR NATCHING FUNDS
FOR PARATRANSIT SERVICES; DECLARING AN
01ERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Central Arkansas Transit Authority (°CATA")
has an opportunity to qualify for matching funds to better
provide paratransit services to the citizens of the City and
within the jurisdiction of CATA, and
WHEREAS, CATA has received commitments from other cities
that participate in CATA, and
WHEREAS, as a result of carryover funds the City has
budget monies to meet its commitment to CATA on this issue,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Board hereby appropriates from 1992
budget carryover funds the sum of $80,800.00 to the Central
Arkansas Transit Authority as matching funds for paratransit
services.
SECTION 2. Emergency Clause. The ability to provide
excellent paratransit services is essential to the pulbic
health, safety and welfare, of the citizens of the community.
Since it is possible that the citizens will lose the opportunity
to qualify for matching funds if these monies are not
appropriated immediately, an emergency is declared to exist and
this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage.
