16353c c C a C a C k r A a P a a 59 1 ORDINANCE NO. 16,353 2 3 4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF 5 THE LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES, 6 PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION BY 7 REFERENCE OF THE 1991 STANDARD FIRE 8 PREVENTION CODE WITH ARKANSAS 9 AMENDMENTS AND 1992 REVISIONS AND 10 THE 1991 STANDARD BUILDING CODE WITH 11 ARKANSAS AMENDMENTS AND 1992 12 REVISIONS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, 13 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 14 15 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code S12 -28 (a) adopts by 16 reference the 1985 edition of the °Standard Fire Prevention 17 Code" and Volume 1 of the 1983 edition of the °Arkansas Fire 18 Prevention Code° both published by the Southern Building Code 19 Congress International, Birmingham, Alabama; and 20 WHEREAS, new amended 1991 editions of these Codes have been 21 published by the Southern Building Code Congress International 22 and adopted by the State of Arkansas as the Arkansas Fire 23 Prevention Code, 1992 Edition; and 24 WHEREAS, the City has complied with Ark. Code Ann. 25 S14 -55 -207 (1987) by publishing a notice of intent to adopt 26 these technical codes by reference in a paper of general 27 circulation within the municipality and three copies of the 28 codes have been available for inspection in the City Clerk's 29 office by the public prior to their adoption; and 30 WHEREAS, this ordinance amendment is necessary to update 31 the City Code and authorize the use of the 1991 editions with 32 Arkansas amendments and 1992 revisions within the City. 33 Now THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 34 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 35 SECTION 1. Subsection (a) of Little Rock, Ark. Rev. (2) The 01991 Standard Building Code with Arkansas Amendments" and 1992 revisions. SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this provision are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict. SECTION 3. It is hereby found and declared that it is critical to the safety of the citizens of Little Rock that citizens and city employees have knowledge of and comply with the latest edition of the Standard Fire Prevention Code and the Standard Building Code. Therefore, this ordinance is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare, and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
