AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 2 28
INTO A CONTRACT WITH JOYNER - CRANFORD & BURKE CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR UTILITY WORK, LAND FILLING AND OTHER PURPOSES
ASSOCIATED WITH THE WEST MARKHAM STREET FAU PROJECT,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to enter into a
construction contract for land filling and other supplemental
work associated with the West Markham Street FAU project not
eligible for Federal participation; and
WHEREAS, the City has appropriated $607,070 for this project,
which funds are sufficient to satisfy the Local Share of federally
eligible work and the complete cost of non - eligible work associated
with this project, including the supplemental work referenced
above; and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department
has contracted with the Joyner- Cranford & Burke Construction
Company based on competitive bidding for road, excavation, utility
and other work included in the West Markham Street FAU project; and
WHEREAS, this work is now currently in progress; and
WHEREAS, it would not be practical or cost effective for the
City of Little Rock to contract with any other construction company
in order to complete the referenced supplemental work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby waives competitive
bidding and authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract
with Joyner- Cranford & Burke Construction Company for land filling,
utility work and other purposes associated with the Markham Street
FAU project.
