AN ORDINANCE IMPLEMENTING THE PROVISIONS OF
ACT 840 OF 1987, PROVIDING FOR WARD
REPRESENTATION ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS;
WITH THREE POSITIONS ELECTED AT- LARGE, ONE
POSITION BEING DESIGNATED FOR THE DIRECT
ELECTION OF A MAYOR.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas hereby authorizes the implementation of the
provisions of Act 808 of 1977 as amended by Act 840 of 1987 to
provide for district representation of the City by its division
into four wards, with three additional directors to be elected
at- large, one of said positions to be designated for a directly
elected mayor.
SECTION 2. The County Board of Election Commissioners
shall divide the City into four wards having substantially equal
population according to the most recent federal census of
population. Following each decennial census of population, and
following any special census of population within the City, the
County Board of Election Commissioners shall reapportion the
districts in the City.
