AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS TO PERMIT THE CHIEF OF ENVIRONMENTAL
CODES TO ABATE NUISANCES; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the efficiency and effectiveness of procedures
regarding the removal, abatement or discontinuance of such
nuisances requires that the Chief of Environmental Codes be
permitted to abate nuisances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 25 -78 of Chapter 25 of the Little
Rock Code of Ordinances be amended to read as follows:
"Section 25 -78. Same - Duty to Abate Nuisance.
It shall be the duty of the chief of police or
the chief of environmental codes to proceed as
directed in Section 25 -76 when he shall be
notified by any officer of this city that
any such nuisance exists, as is by city
ordinance defined.
SECTION 2. Declaring an Emergency. It is hereby found and
determined that an emergency exists with reference to the ability
of the City of Little Rock to cure problems relating to the
removal of unsafe and dilapidated structures and nuisances
creating the necessity to provide efficient and effective methods
for removal and abatement of such nuisances. Therefore, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being
necessary for the preservation and advancement of the public
health, safety and welfare, shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
