15420===monk i ORDINANCE NO. 15,420 J AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE NAMING OF THE WILBUR D. MILLS BRIDGE WHEREAS, the East Belt Freeway (I -440) resulted from the effective legislative work of Wilbur D. Mills, who diligently served the citizens in Central Arkansas in Congress for 38 years; and WHEREAS, that Freeway has provided a critical and direct interstate link between downtown Little Rock and Adams Field and the Little Rock Port; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Little Rock to recognize the enormous contributions of Wilbur D. Mills to the orderly growth of Little Rock and its system of highways, as well as constructing revenue sharing for cities and counties, medicare and medicaid for the elderly, and a taxation program to fund public education, highways, a strong defense and to encourage economic growth. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the East Belt (I' -440) Bridge over the Arkansas River, part of the Freeway connecting Adams Field and Port with I -30 and I -40, be named and, henceforth, known as the Wilbur D. Mills Bridge and that appropriate signs be created and erected on that site to inform motorists of that event. SECTION 2.
