AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATION OF UP TO $150,000 TO
THE WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM COMMISSION
FOR THE EXPENDITURE ON EMERGENCY
REPAIRS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE OF THE
PUBLIC.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that War Memorial Stadium
is in need of immediate emergency safety repairs due to spawling
concrete and outmoded, obsolete electrical wiring; and
WHEREAS, the facility is in violation of the City of Little
Rock Electric Code, the National Electrical Code and the Arkansas
Fire Prevention Code; and
WHEREAS, the facility in its present condition poses a real
and present danger to the health, safety, and welfare of the
public; and
WHEREAS, if certain emergency repairs are left unattended
the facility will deteriorate into a condemnable status, thereby
creating a public nuisance; and
WHEREAS, if a castastrophe occurs and people are injured or
killed the emergency facilities of the City of Little Rock will be
called on to respond; and
WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas needs assistance on an
emergency basis and the City wishes to support the State in this
emergency at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1: There is hereby appropriated $150,000 from the
City's general fund for expenditure to the War Memorial Stadium
